Why Everyone Needs Cash

Some people claim to live cash-free and they say they are doing just fine. After review of world issues, they decided not to combat them but take a more proactive approach. They chose to investigate what caused the world to get into such a sticky wicket in the first place and they found the answer to be cash.

Though it might be possible to live cash-free as these folks do, it would certainly require a major lifestyle change. They feel that to embody the change they wanted to witness in the world, they had to give up cash. However, this certainly will not serve them well if some resources cease to exist on our planet.

The truth is, at one point or another these folks will need to turn to cash. We no longer live in a barter economy, though sometimes it might be much simpler if we did. There are a lot of things we would have to sacrifice if we wanted to live cash-free because there are only so many games of cards you can play.

A better approach would be to try to live on ONLY cash, cutting up the credit cards. This teaches us to budget wisely and manage our finances in a diligent manner. If we don’t have the cash to pay for it, we don’t buy it- simple as that. Bills and mandatory expenses such as food are paid for and if any money remains, we can purchase things we desire.

Rather than starting off with credit card use at a young age and becoming accustomed to living in debt, we should take a different approach. When looking at an item you want, think about whether you have the cash to purchase it. If the answer is no, leave it on the store shelf until you are able to afford it.

Of course, ideally, you are able to have both a large store of cash and credit cards that you use responsibly. That’s what I personally do now, and it just makes sense. But before you learn to use a credit card, you should learn how to handle cash.
